WELCOME TO THE EXCEL CENTER OF ARLINGTON

The Excel Center of Arlington was established in 2001 as a specialized treatment center for adults 18 and older, who have emotional, behavioral and/or substance abuse concerns. An affiliate of Millwood Hospital, The Excel Center of Arlington is a short-term, outpatient treatment alternative in a less restrictive environment.

We offer partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP), Monday through Friday, in our freestanding outpatient facility.

Centrally located in Arlington, Texas, we serve patients from across the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. We offer complimentary assessments conducted by licensed clinicians on site Monday through Friday.

TREATMENT & SERVICES

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

The Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) at The Excel Center of Arlington provides participants with structured group therapy and education, as well as weekly individual and family therapy sessions as needed.

Mental health treatment is provided in an interdisciplinary manner, utilizing licensed therapists, a nurse and a physician. The patient is considered a part of the team in determining treatment goals. A psychiatrist is the leader of the treatment team and oversees all aspects of treatment, including medication management.

The Partial Hospitalization Program operates:

  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for mental health
  • Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for chemical dependency

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) at The Excel Center of Arlington offers treatment for emotional, behavioral and/or substance abuse problems. Less intensive than partial hospitalization but it more intensive than traditional outpatient therapy, this program is designed to provide stabilization and resolution of immediate problem areas.

The family is involved in the treatment process, as we consider family participation to be a vital link in treatment and follow-up care.

Referring professionals are invited to collaborate with the patient and the treatment team. With the patient’s permission, these professionals are continually updated on the patient’s progress and the individual is referred back to the professional for continued follow-up care.

The Intensive Outpatient Program operates:

  • Mental Health — Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • Chemical Dependency — Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Additionally, The Excel Center of Arlington offers Second Chances, an adult outpatient program that focuses heavily on activities of daily life to help reduce repeat hospitalizations. The program typically lasts from 6 to 12 weeks.

Second Chances (PHP/IOP)

Adult Program for those individuals that continue to have repeat hospitalization, non-compliance with medications and schizoaffective disorder.

Senior Program

The Senior Program at The Excel Center of Arlington provides older adults with a comfortable setting to help in the treatment of conditions unique to this population. Any individual who has potential for responding to and benefiting from mental health treatment will be admitted. In addition, the patient must be willing to be an active participant in treatment and must not pose a risk to his/her own welfare or the welfare of others.

Too often, older adults with serious psychiatric conditions are dismissed as untreatable. From age-related anxiety and depression to long-standing psychiatric disorders, older adults can suffer from a wide range of psychiatric illnesses and conditions. These are often made worse by chronic pain, heart disease, diabetes, stroke or other medical disorders associated with aging. Cognitive impairments, such as inability to use appropriate judgment, may also occur.

Individuals who can no longer manage the activities of daily living due to emotional or behavioral changes are candidates for assessment. Often these adults appear depressed, confused or disoriented, fearful, sad, or withdrawn. Their health and safety may also be threatened by non-compliance with a prescribed medication regime.

The Excel Center of Arlington offers specialized mental health treatment for seniors dealing with alcohol and substance abuse problems, although detoxification may require an initial inpatient stay.

Our experienced interdisciplinary team led by our medical director is responsible for delivering treatment on a daily basis. This team includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, licensed social workers, and mental health workers who are respectful, supportive and compassionate and trained to work with senior adults.
